cover of Six String Heroes: Photographs of Great Guitarists

At first glance, one would think that this is just a collection of photographs in a book. But once you take a look at any page in the book, you realize that the photos are accompanied by quotes from the subjects themselves. And these quotes are about playing guitar, they are relevant. It is a fantastic look into the mindset of the best rock guitarists of all time. Through the words of the guitarists and the imagery captured in each photo, you get an intimate look at the world that is rock guitar.

As you flip from page to page, more and more rock legends are presented. With each photo, you realize that Neil Zlozower truly has an eye for capturing the moment, he is a master at his art.

The book is not in any chronological order, nor does it need to be read in any particular fashion. Guitarists from various genres of rock n roll are represented from blues to heavy metal. The only legendary guitarists missing are Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Highlights in the book include Randy Rhoads, Dimebag Darrell, Lita Ford and the man himself, Les Paul.

The quotes from the guitarists are taken from interviews conducted by Steven Rosen and they will appeal to fans and guitarists alike. They add to the photos and make this book a must for anyone has ever loved to hear the magical sounds of a guitar.
