In independently made movie with surprisingly good results. The basic premise is that that a group of friends have to deal with a zombie horde after one of their friends returns from the grave. Three of the friends are granted the power of the ninja and they embark on the quest to vanquish the zombies. This movie mixes blood, gore, zombies, comedy, katanas and a role playing game all into one funny blend. The acting is above par for your average independent movie and the storyline is actually pretty good. The main surprise of this movie is that they came up with something original in the zombie genre. That alone is an accomplishment.
Trailer:
This reviewer's only complaint about this movie is that some of the fight sequences are a bit too long. This appears to be a result of ensuring that the movie was long enough and not a result of adding to story line. However, this could have also been a humorous homage to the old school martial arts movie genre, in which case then it is brilliant. Other than that though, this movie is funny, it's intelligent and it is sure to become a cult favorite.
If you have ever sat around and played a table top role playing game, then a lot of the humor in this movie will be even funnier. If you are closet ninja who knows that if you had to, you could take out a zombie horde, then you will identify with the creators and cast of this movie. Ninjas vs Zombies is a fun ride, a movie that does not take itself too seriously and a movie that improves with age.... like old cheese, oh yeah and wine.
