Hosted By: Tory Belleci
Genre: extreme sports
Review Rating: 8/10
Hosted by Tory Belleci of Mythbusters, Flying Anvils features a marquee event in which contestants fire a 100-pound anvil off another using one pound of gunpowder. In a second, super-modified event, teams use specially engineered anvils with two pounds of gunpowder to send anvils flying in excess of 500 feet in the air.
Trailer:
This show was amazing. Explosions propelling 100 pound anvils up into the air in hopes of reaching extreme heights and the tricky bit of landing it as close to the launch point as possible... Interesting characters abound in the contestants of this SciSports competition as they face off to see who has mastered the science of physics and gunpowder.
"I've seen a lot of crazy things on MYTHBUSTERS, but hosting FLYING ANVILS was one of the most intense things I've ever experienced,: says Tory Belleci. "This sport is so raw, so explosive and so exciting-how did I not know about it before?!"
For 200 years people have been doing this and now we all get to experience this subculture. And who better to host a show about blowing stuff up than Tory Belleci from Mythbusters.
Tory's witty comments and commentary keep the show moving while smatterings of guitarwork add some spice. The crowd waits in anticipation of each explosion cheering on their favorites as the competitors vie for the coveted title of 2011 Anvil Shooting Champion. And since there is science involved, you'll learn a thing or two as well.
Unlike anything you have seen before, Flying Anvils has to be seen to be believed. Tune in and watch.
